[What our Mission Statement really means]

"We want to be the hands and feet of the resurrected Jesus
so that we may see ordinary people transformed by the love and power of an extraordinary God
."

Community
Through our faith in Jesus Christ, we are called away from individualism and into community. We want to establish a church family
that is on a journey of faith together. We want to live "bound together" peaceably by our commitment to seeking God and our
dedication to one another.
That being said, community is impossible without relationships. Relationships for us are a BIG DEAL—and not just casual
relationships, but authentic relationships. This type of relational connection doesn't happen over night . . . It takes a little time to
get there. One of the best ways for this connection to develop is in a small group setting. Nearly all we do here embraces the
small groups atmosphere.

Mission Driven
Our belief is that God intends Christianity to be a way of life. We accept His challenge to live in the world without becoming a
product of it. The church is never meant to be withdrawn or isolated by the Gospel of Jesus; rather, we receive His Gospel so that
we may be equipped to go into the world to love our neighbors, our community and serve "the least of these." As the Community
of Christ we desire to be the hands and feet of  Jesus so that our world will be a peaceful community as Christ intended.

Worship
Worship is our response to who God is. Our worship services are unique. They can be described as "casually reverent." "Casual"
means don't worry about what you wear or what others might think—we welcome you as you are. "Reverent" refers to our
sincerity in approaching God's awesome presence and becoming a real Community of Christ. We are not about hype but about
being and doing real stuff.

Sharing
Have a penny? Leave a penny. Need a penny? Take a penny."
This is the simple sharing concept of the old corner stores. Give if you have excess; take if you come up short. Well, that's sort of
what Chattanooga Community of Christ's attitude is. We're taking the New Testament church concept of holding all things "in
common" and placing it into our own lifestyle here on Glass Street through all of our ministries. We share in a food pantry,
provide school supplies, provide snacks or meals at all events, provide free transportation's to and from events, provide tutoring,
help with job hunting, plus provide a wide variety of other ministries and other acts of kindness.

Christ-like Community
Being Peacemakers through our kindness
We have realized a very important thing -- life is not all about us. Life in the Community of Christ has a lot to do with showing
God's love to others. We take this to mean that what we do outside our new facility is more important than what we do inside it.
We look for opportunities to show God's love to others even in practical ways. While in line for popcorn at a movie, we might pay
for a bag of popcorn for the person behind us; if we find out that our neighbor is moving, we try to help out; we even strive to be
some of the best tippers to our food servers.  Of course, we try to always respond to any request for genuine help or assistance.
Being a community means we take care of each other, even strangers that we just met.

Children, Teens & Young Adults
Children, teens and young adults are so important to our church community that every activity we do is based on their needs and
dreams.  In addition to teaching them about Jesus Christ through the scriptures, we focus on leading them in prayer and worship.
But we also teach them how to be leaders,  to be invitational ministers and peacemakers through our 24/7 mentor ministry. Here,
they lead, organize, plan and take responsibility for every aspect of our community ministry. Each adult knows that our youth &
young adults are a priority to us. Plus we do a wide range of recreation and playful events. Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there
is fun!
We offer camps, retreats, road trips, a ton of sports/recreational events, and support each young person with our attendance at
