The Idea

The idea for the crumb donor program came from a scriptural experience of Jesus Christ recorded in the 15th
chapter of Matthew in the Bible.
Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon.  A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to
him, crying out. “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me!  My daughter is suffering terribly.” Jesus did not answer a
word.  So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.  He answered,
“I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.”  The woman came and knelt before him, “Lord, help me!” she said.  He
replied, “it is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to their dogs.”   “Yes Lord,” she said, “but even the dogs
eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.”  Then Jesus answered, “Woman, you have great faith! Your
request is granted.” Her daughter was healed that very hour. Matthew 15:21-25

The Need

In spite of all the government programs, strong churches and loving people in the Chattanooga, Tennessee area,
there are still hundreds of needy people falling through the cracks.  There are hundreds of children, adults and
families who do not fit into traditional churches and are victims of a high crime rate, a high hunger rate, a high
homeless rate, high poverty levels and a high sexually transmitted disease (STD) rate.  In order words, there are still
mothers and their children begging for help.  The Crumb Donor Program helps fund and provide for a Christ-
centered ministry that is focusing on reaching these people.  The Crumb Donor Program is working on being a
solution to those who fall through the cracks.  We seek out the hard-living and hard-core people of society and begin
to teach them and show them unconditional love.  Through meals, neighborhood food bank, clothing closet, tutoring
ministry, friendship mentoring, lifestyle management, education programs, neighborhood kids bible clubs, teenage
WWJD clubs, study buddies programs, family share groups, worship celebrations, family devotions, camping
experiences, adventure trips, fun days and personal daily contacts, this ministry is making a positive difference in the
lives of many.  A neighborhood community center in East Chattanooga and a kids' church in a trailer park
neighborhood have been established to provide a safe place for nurturing, sharing and growth.  Our need is great
because the number of participants in this ministry is growing daily but the original funding sources for this important
ministry are nearly gone.  This ministry grows weekly in participants and success stories but the cost also grows.  We
need some people to join with some Chattanooga merchants, ministers, neighbors and friends who donate money,
supplies and on-site assistance each month. We hope you will help keep this ministry alive and growing by just
donating about $.33 cents or more a day  ($10 per month). Please help us by becoming a “Crumb Donor”.

Successes

Through this ministry, more than 300 people have been baptized.  More than 340 people participate weekly in
neighborhood worship and celebration experiences.  The crime rate is decreasing.  The youth and children who
participate in this ministry are adopting a lifestyle and an attitude that is keeping them in school and out of trouble.
Participants are finding jobs and learning ways to provide for and nurture their families in positive ways. Families are
growing closer.  New people are getting involved in this ministry weekly.  Countless stories and testimonies are
available about the positive differences and life-changes this ministry is bringing.  One of our teenage Crumb Donors
has written a book, which has been published, about some of his experiences with this ministry.  The book,
“Courageous Witness” authored by Jared Munson, can be purchased to give you some real life stories of the
difference being made by this ministry.  Crumb Donors are making a positive difference.       We need more crumb
donors to keep this going. Help us by becoming a Crumb Donor today!

Our Challenges

Our successes are many but so are our challenges.  The greatest challenge facing the Crumb Donor Program is
funding.   With the number of participants growing weekly, the cost of providing ministry is also rising weekly. The
need for new programs and new avenues of ministry is also rising.  We have outgrown our Ministry Center (building)
and have a need for a new building.  There has not been a new commercial building built in this neighborhood for
more than 50 years.  We also have a need for additional training for our staff and additional staff members.  Our
solution to meeting these challenges is increasing the number of Crumb Donors who participate in the “Crumb
Donors Program”. Please become a Crumb Donor.

What is the Crumb Donor Program?

The crumb donor program is a way for funding and keeping this highly needed community service of ministry alive,
growing and meeting the challenges facing the hard-living and hard-core people.  The crumb donor program does
not seek large donations but only the crumbs from the table of others.  We are currently seeking at least 1000 crumb
donors to donate $10 per month to this ministry.  After reaching our goal of 1000 monthly crumb donors, we will put
those monies into an endowment fund for this ministry’s future use.  It is our dream that some day in the near future,
we will not have to seek funding from anyone.  Each Crumb Donor is considered a friend of this ministry and will
receive a monthly newsletter containing testimonies and information so that they can see for themselves the
difference their crumb donation is making.

What does a crumb donor do?

A crumb donor is invited to do just two things.  First, a crumb donor donates $10 or more each month to this ministry.
Secondly, a crumb donor helps obtain at least one more person to join you as a crumb donor each year. For just
about $.33 cents a day, you can strengthen this ministry and keep it alive for years to come.
